South Africa vs Ireland preview and look back at explosive 1998 Test

These French thugs are just incorrigible aren't they...

Some pretty unsavoury stuff from both sides there. The bloke who stands out most for me though is Teichmann. Real cheap-shot merchant, all swinging elbows and blindside hits, hoofed a bloke on the deck too.

Fox Sports Australia pull no punches in new promo mocking England ahead of series

Yeah, but he copped a lot of criticism/scapegoating as if he'd individually screwed things up, where in fact I remain convinced that he made a valuable contribution to the team collective effort. It was ridiculous to single him out.

(By the way, didn't mean to put those question marks above)

Marketing/advertising versus organic, natural chat. Still made me laugh though.

Ha! Quality. ????
Bloody right about Burgess too. Still find it outrageous how he was treated by England.

Develop Elite Speed In Any Gym - Treadmill Push

Ha! Yes I can imagine that. Luckily I'm not too self-conscious and on top of that people are always doing weird shit - *cough* I mean innovative training techniques - in my gym so it probably didn't look that unusual. I reckon if anyone did watch, when they saw the state I was in after just a few minutes of this they'd have recognised it as a decent exercise.

England beat Wales in tour warmup match at Twickenham

Sadly true DrG. It's the start of a slide into total lack of respect for the officials. I never thought I'd see the day where a group of rugby players would surround a ref like that, but the absence of any kind of punishment for this I'm afraid will lead to much, much more of the same in future.

- Mitrea should have immediately carded Biggar when he snatched the ball and restarted the game with a penalty to England. And he should have given Alun Wyn Jones a stern warning for getting in his face too.
- Gatland should NOT have defended Biggar. He should have publicly chastised him and privately warned him that any repeat of that behaviour would lead to him being dropped from the team.
- The citing commissioner should have ordered Biggar to a disciplinary committee, which should have handed out a minimum ban of two weeks. (Probably couldn't do this under the current laws, without my next point).
- World Rugby should have published a statement, condemning Biggar's behaviour and quickly implementing a guideline that dissent of that type will always result in a card and a ban.

The fact that none of the above happened means that we can expect more footballesque twattery in future.

You're right that it seems to be flyhalves that are starting to increasingly act as the chief bellends too. I wonder if it's simply because their role bears the most resemblance to playing football?? No, that's not it. It is definitely a recent development too; I can't even imagine what it would look like to see Wilkinson or Carter behaving like this.

Develop Elite Speed In Any Gym - Treadmill Push

This is excellent. Felt very close to the feeling of sled-shunting.

Had a crack at it yesterday lunchtime. Was still shaking at my desk two hours later.
I did 10 reps of 10 seconds, with about 20-30 seconds rest between each one - really needed it on the later ones.

Are we quite sure that doing this won't wreck the machine? Don't want to get kicked out of my gym...

Next in the series: how to replicate the tractor tyre flip, using only a pair of dumbells and a weightlifting belt.

All Black legend Mils Muliaina scores first try in USA Pro Rugby with first touch

Sorry to be that guy again and I do think you have to admire the commentators' enthusiasm, but that awesome "planned move" looked very much like a straightforward 9 to 10 followed by a massive forward pass to the next bloke.
