Last sentence is brilliant!

If Wales play like this again on Saturday, they may well provide South Africa with the morale-boosting win they so desperately need!!

Are the All Blacks a dirty team? Fans divided after battle in Dublin

Sound logic, but to work through one example, this was Joe Launchbury's first time ever before the beak. For this reason, (plus admission of guilt, being polite to the officials, declining their offer a biscuit, etc), he was given the minimum sanction which was then halved at the panel's discretion. That is the correct way to deal with it; not just ignoring the incident altogether as seems to be the case with Cane.

Kiwi in Germany, just want to say well done for so comprehensively refuting these accusations. Loving your approach to using actual evidence and facts to support your argument - rather original it must be said.

This whole furore, in my opinion, is embarrassing. I was struck repeatedly by how gracious NZ players, coaches, media and fans were after the Chicago defeat. By contrast, the reaction to this game just looks childish and frankly pathetic.

BUT, here is an important point: most of the whingeing, as far as I'm aware, has been in the British press. Two things here: the UK has nothing to do with this game and unfortunately heir vicarious petulance reflects unfairly on the Irish, and sports journalists in the UK, particularly those writing on Rugby, are almost without exception, jealous scumbags with an enormous collective inferiority complex.

Joe Launchbury in trouble for kick to Fijian head at breakdown

Yeah that's unacceptable. Bit disappointing for someone like Launchbury who's always struck me as a very clean player. Not saying this was "dirty" play as such, but it was unnecessarily reckless.

By the way I thought one of World Rugby's latest raft of law tweaks was that you could no longer even attempt to kick the ball at the ruck? Presumably for this exact reason. Can anyone confirm??

Assuming you've got that right, that is a very helpful translation. Thank you!

Italy fully deserving of first ever victory over the Springboks

Might have left it a bit late and far down the comments to successfully troll any of our Welsh brethren here, but given how generous Wales have been in trying to lose their matches so far, perhaps this Saturday we'all finally see South Africa get a W on the board!

Quite right Lucius. Italy played a much more comprehensive game than they have done previously. For all SA's travails it was a well-earned victory.

Italy fully deserving of first ever victory over the Springboks

Sad times Mr Gard.

And as a depressing exhibition of cowardice, we even had to witness the ignominy of a South African lock forward milking a penalty. Writhing about on the ground clutching his head, out-doing even the despicable wendyballist, Rivaldo (2002 v Turkey), in heinous play-acting.

A symbolic manifestation of the Boks' humiliating emasculation if ever there was one.

Don't mean to trivialise your very well-made point though, and I agree completely. A strong South Africa team is vital to the success of the game as a whole.

Tevita Kuridrani scores sensational try to seal Aussie win in France

Ah, but the first half penalty was committed by French players, so the punishment is rigorously enforced in that case.
