Wales bounce back with strong win over France in Cardiff

Fair enough, I'd need to have another look at that scrum to refresh my memory, but I remember the ball being in the second rows feet.

England hold on after tense battle with Ireland at Twickenham

Does anyone else think that there is a strong claim for a penalty, maybe even a penalty try, for the tackle on May before the one that knocked the ball loose? The defender clearly has a hold on May's head, and in my mind had that not happened May would have been over the line before the cover got to him

If Brown had missed the kick then BoD still had to outpace Johnny May from 60m out, and he's still a great player, but his top speed isn't his greatest asset anymore. So I am tempted to say Brown's save was important. But it wasn't a try saver necessarily.

In my mind the warburton try is fine because he hit the floor, and then placed the ball. And as far as I understand the rules you are perfectly entitled to place the ball once you've landed in any direction you want, so long as it is immediate. The fact that he hit the floor with the ball out in front of him and then placed it 2 inches further is irrelevant detail.

I thought that particular Brian Moore comment was idiotic. England had hooked the ball, but were being driven backwards and then fragmented. And that is a problem that is increasingly occurring because the attacking hooker has to hook, and therefore there are only 7 players pushing. So it is actually a problem that occurs when hookers do hook. It is the exact opposite of what he was saying.

Scott Williams injures shoulder making big hit on Brian O'Driscoll

Sorry, my logic was that shoulder charges, or a lack of 'wrapping', is an offence because it allows the tackler to lock their body into a single rigid piece. This means that there is no give whatsoever in the tackle and it is dangerous for the attacker.
So my very broad theory is that if Williams managed to damage his own shoulder, he wasn't locked up in the way that the rule aims to prevent.
It goes without saying that this is a very superficial type of test, but I think it helps get to the real issue.

We've discussed this 'wrapping' thing before in quite some detail, so there's not much point going into it. But, it does sort of seem to me that if a player ends up hurting themselves in a borderline tackle and not the 'victim', then their tackle probably wasn't a dangerous shoulder charge.

England retain Calcutta Cup after dominant performance at Murrayfield

If he hadn't taken the very unlikely shot then england would have had front foot possession in the opposition half with zero risk of losing possession if the screwed it up. Instead Care took a shot that is extremely unlikely to succeed (although, kudos on nailing it, that part is at least well done) which normally would have just ended up with Farrell stepping up to do the same thing, but with a much higher chance of success.
Why not use the ball when you have it? What's his rush to get rid of it?

England retain Calcutta Cup after dominant performance at Murrayfield

I missed the first few minutes of the game so wasn't aware until just now that Danny Care threw away free attacking ball with another drop goal. That attention whoring little turd makes me so angry it hurts.

Ireland start campaign with comfortable win over Scotland

The cover tackling and workrate in defence to stop Heaslip and Sexton from scoring was outstanding, I didn't see the game live so haven't seen any more analysis of that break that what is above, but Sexton's pass looks suspect to me.
