Quade Cooper wins first professional fight with first round knockout

Can't say I'm a fan of pro rugby players pretending to be pro boxers. They're quite clearly in better physical condition than the amateur boxing opponents (or boxers who are quite clearly past their best!) chosen for them .

Boxing is one of the most technically gifted sports there is (despite the brutality involved) and people at the top of the sport train for months (if not years) for a single fight.

SBW and Cooper lack any real boxing quality and if they came up against any pro boxer of any quality they would be down and fast. As would a pro boxer who stepped on to the rugby field.

Don't mind people doing it as an exhibition or for charity etc... but to try and carve out this boxing persona is just embarrassing.

If SBW thinks he's the mutts nutts then why doesn't he step into the ring with somebody like Tyson Fury or even David Haye and we'll see how good he is!

Midweek Madness - Committed schoolboy puts head down, tackles referee

Smart tactic. Get stepped by the flanker who's going to burst beyond the gain line. Tackle the ref and he stops play. Genius.

Ian Keatley clearance kick hits Wayne Barnes square in the face

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. couldn't have deserved it more. Surprised he didn't yellow card the player for it. My most hated ref!

Munster's Ronan O'Gara facing ban for deliberate kick on Sean Cox

Hey ROG fans take off the blinkers. It was a blatant kick following a pathetic shoulder block - you can almost say he was standing his ground. It wasn't a "charge". Cox didn't even knock him over - if he really wanted to he would have.

It was a good job the Munster boy jumped on Cox when he was on the deck otherwise O'Gara was on the receiving end of good kicking.

Tom Varndell tip tackle on Horacio Agulla

Don't like the fact that the Bath players all throw their hands up in the air as soon as the player is lifted in the air and put on the deck.

Tackle was fine. No penalty or card.

Edinburgh Prop WP Nel scores great 40m try against Leinster

They continue to play in the "library" because it is owned by the SRU so that's one less thing they have to pay for. If they played at another stadium they would have to pay for rent, which the SRU can't afford.

Toby Flood faces ban for alleged dangerous tackle on Andy Goode

I'm still confused why players even lift these days. As I've said before sometimes with a big hit a player is naturally taken off the ground but in tackles like these when they lift the player up it's just asking for trouble. Floods intent might not have been to put Goode on his head but as we've seen with supporting tacklers etc... coming in anything can happen.

Cardiff Blues' Lloyd Williams red carded for alleged dangerous tackle

Stupid tackle. Don't lift a player. Simple. If you do don't slam them into the ground - whether onto flat of back or head as the ref will ping you and card you. Appreciate it's sometimes easier said than done though.

Don't think it should be a card (though I very rarely do!) but the second I saw it I thought that'll sadly be red.

Interesting that the forward who was quite clearly throwing a few punches didn't even get a talking too!

CJ Stander scores 80m try vs Glasgow on home debut for Munster

I am indeed. And it's a great honour to hear our National Anthem being played whenever a try is scored! Shame it rarely ever happens.

Chris Hala'ufia suspended for five weeks after straight red card

Was the player lifted though? The reason he went into the air was due to the force of a perfectly legal (in the sense he wrapped the arms) hit to chest. He didn't make a deliberate attempt to lift the man from the ground. The tackle forced the player off his feet, surely that has to be allowed.

There's very little difference to the excellent hit George North did on Owen Farrell in the 6 Nations (at 1mins).
