Reggie Goodes suspended as clean out badly injures Michael Allardice knee

I was responding to "In the end he should not of been suspended." This is right and wrong, for the reasons that I stated.

Haha. You are right but... you are wrong. You are right in so far as their given rationale doesn't justify the suspension. You are wrong, because as an objective observer the facts clearly justify a much harsher sentence. He breach multiple laws - side entry, no binding, hips below shoulders, dangerous play - even without attributing that he actually he intended to make contact with the lower leg and cause injury. At best he was reckless, which at law is generally sufficient mental state for assualt based crimes. Personally, as a neutral, this was blatant thuggery, far worse and more likely to injury than many more highly punished acts, and the judiciary's blatant kangaroo court attitude and fitting the narrative to the requested slap on the wrists is high farce.

David Pocock scores first half hat-trick against the Highlanders

Not sure if you know who she is Stroudos - she is an attention seeking non-journalist writer type who has a shitty column in the Sydney Morning Herald. She shot off her mouth and she got her comeuppance.

Jocelino Suta penalised for MMA style chokehold on Richardt Strauss

The shitty thing is Strauss is tapping out, and he carries on with it. Scumbag. I am amazed Wayne Barnes didn't even take a look at that to review. It should have been a red card, and I assume will get a decent suspension.

Waratahs lock Dave Dennis makes two brutal hits against the Rebels

The in-goal is not part of the field of play, but it is part of the playing area.

What he did was a penalty offence because he intentionally knocked the ball over the dead ball line. Yellow card worthy as a professional foul, and very very lucky it wasn't a penalty try, which is what I certainly would have awarded, per the below law.

10.2(c): A player must not intentionally knock, place, push or throw the ball with his arm or hand into touch, touch-in-goal, or over the dead ball line.

Sanction: Penalty kick on the 15-metre line if the offence is between the 15-metre line and the touchline, or, at the place of infringement if the offence occured elsewhere in the field of play, or, 5 metres from the goal line and at least 15 metres from the touchline if the infringement occured in in-goal.

A penalty try must be awarded if the offence prevents a try that would probably otherwise have been scored.

The Wallabies claim comfortable victory over Ireland in Dublin

I am of the view that he was not holding the ball. In that case, downward pressure is required to score a try. If you are of the view that he was still "holding" the ball, then we are disagreeing on facts, not law. So be it.

The Wallabies claim comfortable victory over Ireland in Dublin

Erm... There is.
Law defines a try: "Try. When an attacking player is first to ground the ball in the opponents’ in-goal, a try is scored."

Law 22.1 defined "grounding".
"There are two ways a player can ground the ball:
(a)
Player touches the ground with the ball. A player grounds the ball by holding the ball and touching the ground with it, in in-goal. ‘Holding’ means holding in the hand or hands, or in the arm or arms. No downward pressure is required.12
(b)
Player presses down on the ball. A player grounds the ball when it is on the ground in the in-goal and the player presses down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of the player’s body from waist to neck inclusive. "

Ok so its says presses down on the ball. Not "downward pressure". If you are not "holding" the ball, then you need to press the ball down on the ground.

British and Irish Lions start strong with convincing win over the Barbarians

The first try was from a dummy my mum wouldn't fall for, and the second was just a defensive positioning error from a scratch side resulting in a gap you could drive a truck through and nobody came within metres of him. Yeah, he spotted the gap, but so did I sitting behind the goal posts 100 metres away. Two world class tries? He'll have to do better than that with the Aussie back row covering.

Mate we play every week in those conditions here in Singapore without the dropsies. And without two water breaks a half. No different to playing in the wet.
