Saracens all set for Allianz Park debut on new artificial pitch

I can see where theyre coming from, the new turf would be extremely convenient for the clubs..."a junior game can start at 9 a.m., play all day on the field, and finish with the professional team at 8p.m." No one could argue with how awesome that would be, and maintenance is a breeze.

But I have played college hand-egg, and I currently play college football, here in the states, and our stadium is turf. I have also had the (mis?)privilege of playing rugby on turf. And here are some pros and cons, not just from me, but from teamates as well...

Pros: Speed of the game is magnified- cuts, accerlation, etc.
- Bounce of the ball, in rugby and football is more predicatable
- in bad weather there is no need to change or slow down your game

Cons:
-lots of knee and ankle pains, twists, and tweaks... personally my studs snag unnaturally on the unnatural surface, causing my knee and ankle pains
-I have a feeling there is going to be more concussions. The surface is not near as soft as a good grass field, and a head bang on turf could be serious business
-lots of superficial burns, cuts, scratches
-The saracens will be spoiled playing on their artificial turf...and they might go undefeated at home, and have no injuries, but when they go away and play on grass we will start to see them having to stray away from their game, and we will see ankle & knee injuries.
- THE DAMNED BLACK BEADS!!!! THEY GET EVERYWHERE!!! I havnt stepped foot on the turf since our last football match in october...and im still finding them all over my house

Andrew Hore cited for off the ball stiffarm on Bradley Davies

5 weeks.....5 weeks?! that is all?! this decision is just making a downright mockery of the disciplinary panel. what does this extremely mild ban for an extremely severe offense spell out for others?! for Hore? absolutely nothing.
5 games, 3 of which are pre-season....so he will only really miss 2 games, while his "unintentional" punch to the back of a head from behind, and kneedrop, may potentially remove a player from the game forever. This is a joke. and absolute stinking joke

And as far as the match result being different? You can never call that, but like Pretzel said, Wales wouldve have a major upperhand. The Welsh are physical and scrappy, and wernt backing down from NZ. If Nz was missing a player from their pack, the remaining 7 wouldve been worn down throughout the remaining 79 minutes by the Welsh. Welsh killed them with the pick and go's, so imagine doing that against a worn and ragged NZ pack.
If the result wasnt differnt, it atleast wouldnt have been such a one-sided game.

ya know it is one thing to swing at a player... but another to do it from behind. This should have been a red on the spot. And I agree 8 weeks ATLEAST! That was just uncalled for and disgusting. I watched the match saturday, and after seeing this, I almost didn't want to watch anymore.
Everyone who has played rugby knows that things can get a bit cheeky when youre in face to face with the opposition, and a swing like thatcould happen spur of the moment, but to do it coming up behind on someone, it has to be premeditated, purely malicious.

Eben Etzebeth in hot water after making contact with Greig Laidlaw's eyes

yeah, I do agree that intentional contact to the face has no place in the game, but watching the clip it is obvious Eben's hand to the eye area was accidental. Nearly as soon as his hand touches the area, he moves it away.
If there was intent to harm there, this conversation wouldnt be happening... but if any other player on the field had made the same contact there never would have been a citing, but there was, just because it was Eben Etzebeth.
