Three Kiwis banned for punching or striking in Round 2 of Super Rugby

As per rules? Ahem, I guess you mean 'laws'...

'As per rules' someone that punches should be sent of,period. You, my friend, have a quite subjective interpretation of the 'rules'.

And don't pull the 'tiddlywinks' comment out of context. Originally it had absolutely nothing to do with punching people in the face but with hard fair play in general.

I suggest you get your facts straight before you throw in any further nonsense.

Rynard Landman red carded for elbow to face against Connacht

Funny how the victim of his actions does not get mentioned in his so-called apology. Also, he talks about his 'decision' instead of his 'actions'. That sounds like he's pleading guilty to premaditation.

Ah well, 8 weeks seems appropriate to me..

Jamie Heaslip accepts cited Pascal Pape's apology but is out injured

Couldn't agree more. That's why he got a 10 week ban.

I understand your point Reality. That's why I said that apologizing or accepting apologies should not have any effect on the lenght of the ban.

Nevertheless players at this level should show the rest of the world that, despite sometimes being brutal and savage on the field, they should at least be able to behave like civilized gentlemen once the match is over.

It sends out a good example to non rugby players and to players at a amateur level too. I mean, all kind of stuff happens at amateur level that goes unpunished all the time but I would still like to be able to have e beer afterwards with the guy that punched me in the face.

Guess I'm just a bit nostalgic ;-)

So what´s your solution? Not apologize at all? The incident has allready happened and this is by far the best way to deal with it, by both parties. I don't think apologizing should have any influence on the lenght of the ban though.

Off course the action was deliberate. However, I don't think he intended to injure him. Nevertheless he should receive an appropriate ban.

England lack early intensity but pile points on Italy in second half

I hope the 'single-unit-theory' will never materialize in an actual law. I believe the ref should look at the player taking the ball into contact. After all a lot of tries are being scored with hands of opponents on the ball.

Belgian rugby club scores over 350 points in bizarre club fixture

Actually, that was the smartest decision of the day, since they were going to do nothing for 80 minutes on a cold winter afternoon..

Wow! And a great time was had by none, I guess. The linesmen must have been exhausted.
