South Africa bounce back with convincing victory over Samoa in Birmingham

It's never nice to see someone having to bow out of the cup because of injury, But this is just gutwrenching. I know he got a lot of flack from a lot of Springbok 'supporters' (on other websites) over the last few months. He might have been past his best. But to me Jean de Villiers embodies everything I love about rugby. True grit, sheer determination to overcome everything life throws at you, a humble and gentle human being, both in succes and in defeat.

I actually feel genuinly sad for him and I think rugby in general will be just a little poorer without him.

Wales come from behind to beat hosts England at Twickenham

On the Lydiate tackle: it was not the landing that concerned me (just plain momentum), it was the nature of the tackle. Diving at the knee of your opponent is potentially career ending. I thought World Rugby recently took a stance against those kind of tackles but I might be wrong there.

Highlights and celebrations from Japan's famous win over South Africa

I would not hold my breath waiting for the Netherlands, although we are making steady progress with regional rugby academies in high school for example. We still need to grow a rugby culture and we need some serious sponsors. Logistically we should be able to have a strong competition since Holland is small and densely populated.
But even without participating I am really enjoying the tournament immensely so far.

Highlights and celebrations from Japan's famous win over South Africa

It's comments like yours and Katman's that still make this my favourite rugby website. Before the match I read a lot of insult in the direction of the Japanese on other websites (varying from questioning either the 'Brave' and the 'Blossom', their size, skills, etc). But guys like you are the real rugby afficionados and I applaud you and every other Bok fan with the same sentiment for that.

You know, coming from the Netherlands for me it is almost impossible to fathom how incredibly disappointed you guys must be, which makes those generous words extra special.

England finish strongly to pick up bonus point win over Fiji in RWC 2015 opener

From a neutral perspective I really enjoyed the match. The scoreline might be a bit flattering to England though. The subs made the difference in the end but besides Brown I thought Robshaw also had a great game.

God I love seeing those Fijians play but well done England.

Brad Thorn tackle breaks ribs of reality TV star in charity match

Brave..retarded..potato..tomato.. There's a fine line between those 2 things in rugby, I guess.

There was a bit of wendyball-kind-of-off-the-ball-stuff going on now and then. But I reckon that is a matter of instinct kicking in with some of the non regular rugby players.

Brad Thorn tackle breaks ribs of reality TV star in charity match

Take a look at his tackle in the 78th minute. Absolutely never heard of this guy but what he lacks in body weights he more than compensates for in bravery.

France convincing winners over England despite late comeback in Paris

First of all congratulations on the win.

I'm not in denial Frenchie. I watched it from a neutral perspective (neither for France nor England) although I am rooting for the Poms since everyone else seems to like to see them loose and I don't think the current crop of players and the coach deserve that.

I don't think France showed anything but a strong forward performance. The backs created very little. England lost (I believe) more than half of their lineouts and the scrum was a mess. Off course also due to a good French performance but they were partly architects of their own downfall.

France can go a long way in the WC. Hell, they showed that 4 years ago. But again I don't think it will be because they play very well, like the French teams of old used to do.
