I think it was high to be fair, but again, didn't catch the explanation given.
I think (France more than anyone) there are way too many high tackles being let go, I think it was Ford shoulder that caught O'Briens jaw and dazed him.

I have green tinted glasses though, so you might want to take my Ire-Eng comments with a pint of Guinness ;)

Ireland hang on against France to stay on track for title defence

I don't consider myself to be a particularly hard bastard (I'm only a back like) but I've played through cracked ribs on 3 occasions, for the simple reason that thanks to adrenaline and whatnot, they didn't feel broken, just like a bad knock.

I agree on your comparison, I'd go so far as to say his kneeing McCaw in the head was worse, whatever the reason on otherwise exemplary record.
I wasn't aware of Pape's name for being dirty, he's just a second row. :)

Heaslip was hanging on after entering the maul through the gate, I don't think they were quite on the try line either

Jamie Heaslip accepts cited Pascal Pape's apology but is out injured

"When you watch the images of the incident I don't think you can say it was deliberate,"
...I don't think you can deny it was deliberate! Although Saint Andre isn't proving to be the most perceptive coach in the world...

Ireland break down Italy in second half for comfortable Rome win

Let's not forget that Schmidt is not going to waste his playbook with France and England looming!

Ireland break down Italy in second half for comfortable Rome win

I'm an Irish man living in Italy and frankly I'm as tired as a man can be with this victim mentality. Italian rugby won't improve until a viable underage system is put in place, end of! Masi at full back? Please, come on.

Nacho, 21 (Isacc Boss) looked at Parisse but was in contention for the ball at point of contact. Of course you have to throw your body in there if you hope to hold onto the ball with someone like Parisse going for it! Penalty try? Please!

That said I think the try should have been awarded, when looking at the ball it doesn't even stop rotating so I don't see how they can say Parisse touched it.

Bad decision, but by the TMO, not the ref.
