Misfiring France labour to crucial victory over Italy in Marseille

Glad the french won at last. But this clearly was a second division game...

Questionable France HIA tactics investigation moves to next stage of review process

I don't advocate for an "at will" policy. I just don't see the point treating differently a head or knee injury. I hope no one would go as far as to deliberately hurt a player in order to get a "free sub". And if they do, they can do it head or knee just the same.
Two solutions are OK for me: either you change the law to allow a player to come back if the sub hurts himself even if its not an HIA, or you forbid it in both cases.

Questionable France HIA tactics investigation moves to next stage of review process

Idk but I' ve read in french newspapers that the alternative was Benjamin Fall (winger/fullback) instead of Machenaud... So I guess they had not used all their subs.
Still, it doesn't make sense that you can't have a player coming back on the field if his sub hurts himself, whatever the injury.

I m pretty sure it wasn't a "tactic".
Maybe the french benefited from a wrong call by the ref and doctors. So what?
Come on, who would have said "No, its only the knee, there is no need for an HIA. I refuse the HIA".
I dare say: no one. Either irish, welsh, or french. Dear BOD himself would have never refused this HIA if in Brunel's shoes.
The real issue is that a coach should not have to choose between safety and looking to have cheated. That's the real disgrace.
If we want safety to be the top priority, this stupid "no replacement unless HIA" rule must be dropped. It creates interferences between strategic game issues and safety issues. It must go.

Johnny Sexton's last minute heroics hailed as 'inspirational' by Joe Schmidt

Exactly!
And regarding your n°1 I really dont think either that is was intentional. Dupont was the first one to say "no, its my knee".

Johnny Sexton's last minute heroics hailed as 'inspirational' by Joe Schmidt

Agreed, nothing to be ashamed of for those young french players who almost won VS the 3d nation. But now France will fall to the 10th place of the world ranking... I like the Scots but I kinda hope the french will crush them...
I don't think Owen is that "anti french". Anyway, there are worse cases than his.

Johnny Sexton's last minute heroics hailed as 'inspirational' by Joe Schmidt

Both teams had a lot of pressure. They both needed to win. France because it was their first game with the new staff and everybody was so impatient to see them win again. Ireland because their ambition is the grand slam. Add the rain, and it gives a dull tight game.
Never liked Vahaamina, never will. He gives Ireland the win IMO.
France defense was a good surprise. They had two weeks to build something. They only managed to do that but did it well. Let's hope with Picamoles back meaner than ever they 'll go forward again. Dunno what to think of Beauxis' come back. He can be brilliant and then so bad... Anyway, not many options left at that point. As staded, there is a whole team of injured french players. It's just unbelievable.
Regarding the HIA issue, when I first read about it I thought "oh no, not again" because last year's controversy was embarrassing enough. But then I read this article saying that the french management or players had nothing to do with the decision. I think it was a cautious call in good faith. Line judge Paul Williams was the one who said "I think Dupont bumped his head".

Sexton was huge as always. Even a bit more. France badly need a Sexton of their own.

Six Nations 2018 Preview: Is there a clear favourite for the title?

Love your comment regarding France.
Remove them from the equation and you can pretty much guess the result based on world rankings.
But then les Bleus can win any of those games, or lose to Italy, or both.

Mathieu Bastareaud shocks fans as homophobic slur is heard worldwide

What is sad is that french players feel the need to swear in (american)english. "Bourse molle" ou "vil pendard" would have been more pleasant.
Bastareaud should be condemned for his lack of taste.
