Scotland go back to back with tense victory over Ireland

-Kidney's decision to strip BOD of the captaincy and give it to Heaslip has backfired spectacularly.

-Don't think Jackson should be blamed for the loss. Everyone knew he wasn't a good kicker going into the match, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he only landed 1 all day. Thought he showed enough in general play to warrant starting against France.

-Marshall is the real deal at 12.

-Earls wouldn't pass a ball to save his life! I don't think I've ever seen a try so completely butchered due to such shameless gloryhunting in all my life. Honestly, how do you NOT pass to BOD in that situation?! Either that or he has absolutely zero peripheral vision at all. Either way, he shouldn't be anywhere near the starting team for the foreseeable future.

-ROG should be put out to pasture.

-BOD should be reinstated as captain for the final two games, with Jackson at 10 and Madigan on the bench, Marshall at 12 and McFadden on the wing instead of Earls, with McFadden taking over kicking duties.

Seven week suspension for dangerous tip-tackle in U20 Six Nations

They are both terrible tackles, but for me not only is this tackle as bad as Davies on Ryan, it's worse!

They are both off-the-ball tackles with definite intent, but Moriarty goes the extra step and drives McGrath into the ground, as opposed to Davies who "merely" flips Ryan and drops him.

They are both red card offenses worthy of hefty punishments, but Moriarty's is definitely worse.

Seven week suspension for dangerous tip-tackle in U20 Six Nations

How the hell is this classed as just a "mid-range" offense?!?

For the love of god, what more does he need to do to earn a top end ban? Stamp on the scrum-half's neck afterwards?!

This is one of the worst spear tackles I've seen in a long long time, and was deserving of at least a 6 month ban.

Cian Healy banned for three weeks for leg stamp on Dan Cole

Oh, and just to add to the confusion/controversy/general farcical nature of rugby's disciplinary process... Healy has been selected to play for Leinster this weekend!!

His ban should have started the day after the England game, as is the norm in these situations, but apparently the powers that be took a quick peek at the schedule and guessed that Healy would be kept in Ireland camp and therefore not play this weekend, so they decided to defer his ban until AFTER Leinster's game to ensure that he misses the France game as well as the Scotland game.

They have essentially tried to sneakily ban him for 4 weeks, even though the ban is officially 3 weeks. Leinster have called their bluff and selected him for their match, which will lead to the IRFU appealing the whole thing, and confusion and chaos will reign!

What a farce!!

To all the people demanding a lengthier ban: You should have seen this coming. I predicted he would only get two weeks and miss the Scotland game, so I wasn't too far wrong! You have to take into account all the previously lenient bans for acts as bad or worse than this. For example, if Andrew Hore only got 5weeks for basically assaulting Bradley Davies and knocking him out cold then there is no way Healy was going to get anything longer than that.

The problem is not with THIS decision, but with the precedent that has been set by previous decisions.

Owen Farrell kicks England to victory over Ireland in Dublin

Huzzah, someone else agrees with me!

Ah, Bloodgate. I remember it well! My abiding memory of that match (aside from the aforementioned scandal) was the incredible defensive effort put in by Rocky Elsom. He was simply unstoppable that day.

@ Stroudos and TechnoMouse, The scoreline was close, but that doesn't mean it was a closely-contested match! As I said (and apparently DanKnapp agrees with me on this) Ireland may have been close on the scoreboard, but were never in with a real chance of winning the match. THAT is what made it a poor game IMO, not the lack of tries.

Obviously you don't need teams scoring 10 tries apiece to make a good game. I like a gruelling physical battle with two teams slugging it out just as much as the next guy, but just as lots of tries do not necessarily mean a good game, neither is two teams being "physical" enough by itself to make for a good game.

The BEST games IMO are the ones that feature strong defense, exciting attacking play, and the game being in the balance right up to the final whistle. eg. The simply awesome Clermont vs Leinster semi-final in last seasons Heineken Cup.

This game had ONE of those three things (the defense), so for me it wasn't a particularly good game.

Thrilling isn't the word I would use to describe it! Lowest scoring match in 6N history, and the first time there hasn't been a try in this fixture since 1984!!

As an Irishman, I never got the sense that they could or would win the match. Even when they pulled it back to 6-6 and England were down to 14, they never looked like going on to win. To England's credit they played the sin bin period excellently and completely shut the game down. Once it got to 12-6, even with 15-20mins left, the game was over.

They could have thrown in a second ball and Ireland still wouldn't have scored a try!

Was at the match, and it was pretty poor fare from both sides to be honest, even taking into account the horrendous weather conditions.

Ireland dominated possession and territory, and looked the better team for most of the match, but they just simply made too many mistakes. They made something like 7 handling errors in the first 25mins!
England are no great shakes either. They used the same tactics that won them the WC a decade ago ie. a big pack, minimize mistakes, and kick penalties. It ain't pretty, it ain't exciting, it ain't entertaining, but it is damn effective!

Nothing wrong with the Kearney incident, it was just smart play on his part.

Healy will probably get cited, but given previous suspensions for similar acts and his clean record he is only looking at a week or two MAX. Might miss the Scotland game, but that's it.

The Best of 2012 - Looking back at another great year of rugby

To all the people complaining about the lack of French teams in the video:

My memory is a little hazy. Remind me again, what exactly did France or any French club actually DO in 2012??

6 Nations? Nope.
Heineken Cup? Nope.

This video highlights the WINNERS of the two international tournaments and the biggest club tournament in both hemispheres, as well as the try and player of the year. Throw out the stupid reference to England and it's a damn good video!

If you want some French teams in the video next year, maybe they could try actually winning something in 2013!!
