Enhanced Super Rugby Judiciary Process Launched by SANZAAR

So they have put more people in bureaucratic positions , we all know what that means...
Pen pushers needing to justify their existence however unnecessary it turns out to be. Just watch this space, there will be more and more ridiculous citings, suspensions and the sport will continue on its path to becoming non-contact.

Francois Steyn red carded for attempting to take Johnny Sexton's head off

Before there's an argument about the new laws (which everyone agrees are stupid), this was a blatant red card under whichever version of the laws you like for the last fifty years.
Late and swinging arm to the head; maybe could have escaped with lesser punishment before the advent of the video ref., but there is little doubt in this case that the right decision was made.

Leolin Zas red carded and banned after Bernard Foley's awful landing

Here's a thought, if players' safety is paramount why not just ban people jumping for the ball (which is the source for the danger), it'd solve everything.
Oh yeah, I forgot, it's a sport where adults run voluntarily run into each other as hard as possible and generally get up and do it again. I've played and watched rugby for my whole life and the worst injuries I have seen are never from "foul play" like this but normally someone getting trapped in a ruck and bent the wrong way. Red cards like this annoy me so much, which law was broken when someone jumps higher than you, hits their arse on your head and flips over?

Chris Ashton reflects on his controversial 10-week ban for gouging

For all I dislike Ashton's attitude on the pitch he actually comes across pretty well here.
Never thought it was a gouge in the first place and ten weeks is ridiculous - anyone remember when Schalk Burger only got 8 for his blatant one in the Lions tests?
It would seem that the rugby board like to think of themselves as a court but the defendant goes in with the presumption of guilt having to be lifted as opposed to being prosecuted.

Alesana Tuilagi banned for 5 weeks for 'kneeing' Japanese tackler

This is a joke, sorry for replying here just to get up the comments but I think it's important everyone sees this...
...the Judicial Officer's report into the decision. It is basically a sad indictment of what the boys in suits do. Now there are too many of them employed in all these pointless positions they need to justify their existence so go through footage with a tooth-comb after each game with a presumption of guilt whenever anyone so much as loses a contact lens.
It's a farce.

Julian Savea and Eben Etsebeth slap one another while smiling

Both deserve a 6 week ban. Deliberate contact in the area around the eyes.

There is no place for this in the game, it's only a matte of time until a serious injury.

Think of the children.
