Jonny Wilkinson statistics after another outstanding performance this season

To celebrate Jonny Wilkinson’s outstanding career to date, Gillette has released a video that highlights some of the key moments of his career and a few unconventional statistics, measuring the outstanding performance that he has maintained for well over a decade now.

Along with revealing just how far the Toulon fly-half has kicked the ball with his trusty left boot, the video takes a look at just how much impact he’s endured on his way to becoming one of the first fly-halves that even a forward would think twice about running at.

The video follows on from a hallmark season for Wilkinson in which he won his first ever Heineken Cup title; successfully kicking all of his 17 attempts at goal during the knockout stages to earn himself the title of European Player of the Year in 2013.

Although he narrowly missed out on a British & Irish Lions tour spot due to injury, Wilkinson has showed that despite his years, he's still as competitive as ever, playing in one of the toughest leagues on the planet.

He'll be doing it all again next season, aiming for that elusive Top 14 title with Toulon.

He didn't 'narrowly miss out on a British & Irish Lions tour spot due to injury" at all. Gatland spoke to him a few days before the squad was announced to enquire if he was available, and Wilkinson ruled himself out as he felt he could not keep up with the rigorous training required by a Lions Tour. He also wanted to concentrate on Toulon for the end of the season.

He did later have surgery on a Groin injury, but even if he was injury free it is unlikely he would have been called up as the Lions needed players to cover centre and wing (hence Barritt, Twelvetrees, Wade & Williams)
