Clermont thrash league leaders Toulouse at the Stade Marcel Michelin

Toulouse got a 35-5 hiding on the road as Clermont treated their home fans to a powerful performance at the Stade Marcel Michelin, edging them closer to the summit of the Top 14 table. There are now just seven rounds left in the league season.

With 14 players out of this match on Six Nations duty with France, Clermont came out convincing winners despite Toulouse scoring their solitary try in the first quarter.

David Skrela was on fine form with the boot, kicking seven penalties and a conversion against his former teamates and employers.

A try to center Gonzalo Canale extended their lead in the second half, before Toulouse had one last throw of the dice with time up, only to have winger Brent Russell snatch an intercept, which replacement number ten Brock James duly converted, adding salt to the Toulouse wounds.

Elsewhere in the Top 14:
Toulon 19 - 6 Montpellier | Agen 22 - 17 Perpignan | Biarritz 38 - 13 Bordeaux Begles | Brive 25 - 9 Stade Français | Racing Metro 22 - 21 Bayonne | Castres 6 - 6 Lyon

We'll have more Top 14 action for you soon. If you saw or know of anything that you think should be featured, please let us know via Twitter, Facebook, or Email.

2:30 - Beautiful try-saver by Toulouse hooker!

Interesting battle between Donguy and his opposite number throughout. Nice to see them having a little chat afterwards.

And fair play to Toulouse having a final rumble at the end with 80+ minutes gone.

Hello Stroudos, the chat afterwards is between Skrela (former Toulouse flyhalf) and indeed Donguy. Clermont number 14 is Buttin, a young promising talent usually playing at 15.
