Rugby World Cup Daily - Kickoff

The day everyone has been eagerly anticipating for so long has now come and gone, and the hosts have got their Rugby World Cup off to a positive start. In this edition of the Rugby World Cup Daily show, the opening ceremony is feature, we hear from the captains, and the next round of games are previewed.

Today there was only the one match to take in, but things get a whole lot busier soon as tomorrow we've got Scotland against Romania,Fiji vs Namibia, France vs Japan, and then what should be one of the closest games of the round, Argentina vs England.

As this is now a daily feature, we'll probably start to keep things brief in the write-up's from now on. The videos speak for themselves and it's meant to just be a quick catch up anyway.

Unfortunately highlights of the match aren't included in it, for rights issues no doubt, but if you hop across to the official RWC website you can watch on there, as the IRB appear to be controlling things quite strictly.

Don't forget that if you're in the UK you can watch the matches live and on demand on ITV's website, on Supersport's in South Africa, and on Fox Sports' site in Australia. There's a few other places but the official site does a good enough job for now when it comes to highlights.

Enjoy the weekend.

France should normally win this one but i have read that they don't know much of Japan. The French team takes this game seriously. Japan will look for a fast pace game, hope the French are ready for that early in the game and quickly control their game by putting points on the board.

I don't see any surprise with Australia vs Italy.

Ireland vs USA should be good game and given the form of the Irish lately maybe USA could have a chance in an upset???Hmm i go for an irish victory at the end.

Not seeing a USA upset happening as much as I'd like it to :P

I know there's issues with broadcasting in other countries as well and it seems like every sports league is getting greedy with broadcasting rights and making it difficult for the public to watch games, but Universal Sports coverage sucks!!! Their commentators are awful. SBW is good but he is not by any means a "great boxer" (maybe one day but as long as he only fights the overweight and disabled, theres no claim to that description). Also that is a stupid thing to bring up. They're trying to dumb things down and pander to.... something i suppose in order to draw in American audiences. I was so grateful when they switched to the Kiwi commentators doing the game who actually gave a far more balanced and actually intelligent view of the action. The Unviersal sports broadcasters would have had a hard time keeping up while they had the all blacks dicks in their mouths.
