Leicester vs Wasps EDF Cup Semi Final highlights

Leicester vs Wasps EDF Cup Semi Final highlights

Leicester Tigers booked a place in this year's EDF Energy Anglo-Welsh Cup Final with a 34-24 victory over London Wasps in an entertaining clash at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Andy Goode featured prominently as he overshadowed England's new star flyhalf Danny Cipriani. Goode scored one try, created another two and kicked 14 points, his inspired performance showing his class, maturity and of course, experience.

Cipriani did show touches of brilliance though, scoring a great try of his own as well as putting Paul Sackey away for a try with a neat flick pass on one occasion.

Wasps battled to the end but tries from Seru Rabeni, Dan Hipkiss and Martin Castrogiovanni sealed Leicester's win.

The Tigers will meet Ospreys in the final at Twickenham on 12 April, which is set to be quite an occasion.

I have to agree with hackneygriffin, surely games like this show thatRUGBY ISN'T BROKEN, WE DON'T NEED TO FIX IT. I don't want ELVs in the northern hemisphere, it's just another step in turning union into league. See the video of the penalty try from a couple of days ago. Madness.PS Well done Tigers!

Beautiful tries! But i think in the 2nd try, Reddan play very well the beggining of the action but give the ball too early to Sackey (the finish was difficult for him).PS: for a frenchie like me, there is a difference between "Sin Bin" and "Yellow Card" (region or slang)?TheObit

The real reason they are changing the rules is so that thick football fans can begin to understand whats happening, and so that they don't have to watch a scoreless boring match. But as the commentator at the Ospreys v Saracens game said, 'how long has it been since we saw a scoreless game, or even a scoreless half?' I certainly can't remember one.

Bonzai, Biarritz vs Brive on the weekend was 0-0 after 50 minutes. :)There's your answer.

Loved to watch it and this shows that the Northern folks can play some beautiful rugby aswell! Hopefully the final will be played on even a higher level of skill and competition. Its going to be great!Ah yeah, Biarritz vs Brive was 0-0 till well in the 2nd half, but they were playing in the middle of a torrential rain fall and came closer to waterpolo than rugby! :-p

Why isn't Goode playing for England?!?! He should have no problem getting on that sheet!! His play is excellent and most of the time under control!!!

Goode's problem has always been consistency. If he could do that every week he would have far more England caps than he has already.I remember watching him in the same match last year (EDF semi vs Sale), when he threw a simple pass for Hipkiss that bounced twice before reaching him and was about two yards forward. This may well be his last season as first choice at Tigers if all of the talk about Hernandez proves true.

Castrogiovanni's try was the bestgood offloads and finished off in such style by the big manI could almost swear the ground shook when he landed

Goode just isn't international standard. He's great at this level and he had a stormer in this game, but if you've seen him on the international stage, he looks slow, physically not aggressive enough, and tactically brittle. He's been overshadowed by Wilkinson and now he's been over-taken by Cipriani who, though the papers say he was eclipsed by Goode, wasn't and also had a great game.

The real reason we lost this game was not Goode overshadowing Cipriani, it was Wasps losing so many of their own lineouts, something nobody seems to have picked up on...On a different note, I reckon you could make up a pretty good back line just from Leicester and Wasps how about:9. Ellis10. Cipriani11. Sackey12. Flutey13. Hipkiss14. Varndell15. LewseyThat looks pretty good to me.

The BBC aired both games live, this was the early one on BBC1, while the other semi was broadcast a bit later on BBC2, at least it was in England.

bring I think that these players from doth clubs daserve a chance for eng. From tigers: Chuter, Croft, Crane, kay, moody, ellis, goode(if he is consistant enough), hipkiss, and varndell. From Wasps: Vicary, cipriani, haskell, lewsey, payne, rees, sackey, shaw, and worsley. Castro's try was so funny lol

to the guy who put the england team, you have so many other players from different clubs like strettle, noon, wilko(centre), vainakolo, flood, tait.Haskell is not very good he was always trying to make things that were not on and running like a centre, which he isn't.and to the guy who said no english fullback, lewsey, tait, balshaw-not-flood and ciprani.P.S. hernandez might play at fullback.
